My name is Tim Cech and on June 18, 2007 our daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.). She had just celebrated her third birthday. Leukemia is a form of childhood cancer that attacks the blood. Treatment for such a disease can last for months or even years. Our daughter’s protocol lasted for two and one half years. As of September 11, 2009 she has now completed her entire protocol and we are happy to say that she’s a cancer survivor. She’ll be six years old in May 2010.
During my daughter’s treatments, our family spent a great deal of time at Ronald McDonald House and we feel so fortunate that such a charitable organization exists. Some families that we know and have become friends with literally move into Ronald McDonald House for extended periods of time. Without the house, these families would need to spend thousands of dollars in accommodations so that they could be there to care for their sick child.
Looking back as we travelled to Vancouver’s BC Children’s Hospital, the only thing my daughter looked forward to was getting to stay at Ronald McDonald House. She loved it there, even though she knew it meant another long day at the hospital for treatments and feeling horrible and miserable from the medicines.
As these kids are fighting for their lives every day, Ronald McDonald House is a place where they can put all their aches and pains aside for a while and just be kids! At Ronald McDonald House, the opportunities to just be a kid are endless. The rooms are all decorated differently, like the fish room, my daughter’s favourite. There’re video games, crafts, toys galore, dress up costumes, a music room, a huge big screen television, snacks and more. Everything a kid could want or need is there. But all this comes at a cost and the only way that cost is covered is by donation. And that’s why our family has decided to support Ronald McDonald House. We know firsthand why the house is so important and hopefully I’ve been able to share a glimpse of it with you. Pink Collar Marketing is donating $20.00 to Ronald McDonald House BC from every membership sold. As our business grows, that $20.00 will grow as well.
Even if you decide that myPinkcollar.ca isn’t for you, please find it in your heart to follow the “donate now” button below the Ronald McDonald House logo and help make a child’s day a little brighter.
Sincerely,
The Cech Family
